China’s First Use of Lithium Batteries in a Hybrid Marine Vessel: The “Deep Sea 01” is officially recognized as China‘s first maritime law enforcement vessel to utilize lithium batteries as a source of hybrid propulsion. This project successfully demonstrated the feasibility and safety of integrating high-capacity battery systems into complex marine environments, setting a critical precedent for the entire industry. The “Deep Sea 01” is a landmark project, as it represents CATL‘s first-ever marine power battery system to be successfully deployed and delivered. The successful launch and operation of this vessel officially marked CATL‘s entry into the marine sector and validated the performance and safety of its battery technology for demanding maritime applications. The construction of the “Deep Sea 01” created multiple “firsts” within China’s shipbuilding industry, including the first domestically developed integrated shipboard information system for patrol, emergency command, and vessel management. It has since served as a benchmark for the development of future hazardous chemical emergency command vessels and battery-powered ships, effectively promoting the formulation of new industry standards and regulations.
