The Wuyi 2 is a 58‑meter inland river cargo vessel that operates on the Min River in Fujian Province, officially recognized as Fujian’s first range‑extended electric cargo ship and the first electric propulsion cargo vessel on the Min River. Powered by a CATL 1,540 kWh high‑safety LFP battery system together with two 250 kW generator sets, the vessel achieves up to 100 km of pure electric range and can be fully recharged in 2.5 hours using shore‑side charging. In pure electric mode, the vessel produces zero carbon emissions, and compared with an equivalent conventional diesel vessel, it reduces fuel costs by 58.1% on a single voyage and cuts overall operating costs by 30% while lowering carbon emissions by 50%.

The Wuyi 2 plays a pioneering role in demonstrating how electric cargo vessels can substantially cut emissions and operating expenses in river transport, and it serves as a key early pilot for Fujian’s ‘Electric Fujian, Green Min River’ initiative, providing a scalable model for inland waterway electrification. CATL‘s high‑safety LFP battery system serves as the core energy source for the vessel, enabling reliable, zero‑emission operation and proving the viability of electric propulsion for inland cargo shipping.
