The "Ningyuan Diankun" is a 127.8m, 740 TEU pure electric open‑top containership owned by Ningbo Ocean Shipping. As China’s first 10,000‑ton all‑electric smart ship and the world’s largest pure electric seagoing container vessel, it marks a historic leap from inland/electric pioneers to large‑scale coastal electrified shipping. Powered by 10 containerised LFP battery systems with a total CATL‑supplied capacity of ~19,600 kWh, the vessel supports both high‑voltage shore charging and rapid battery swapping, achieving full‑voyage zero emissions, zero noise and zero pollution. It eliminates 1,462 tonnes of CO₂ annually, equal to 4,000 mature trees. The “Ningyuan Diankun” sets a replicable blueprint for global zero‑carbon shipping, providing a powerful technological link between CATL’s industry‑leading energy storage systems and real‑world coastal freight transportation.
